What to wear to the races

0 0

Horse racing is an incredibly popular sport that sees thousands of people a year descending on racecourse to watch their favourite jockey and horse dash around the course in a bid to win their race. There are lots of different courses throughout the UK and each one will hold regular events and each one will bring in many visitors. Cheltenham for example holds a Gold Cup race week that sees the royal family and celebrities appearing to back their favourite horse. Special days are held such as a St Patrick’s Day event and a Ladies Day event. It is important to think about what you are going to wear to the races and here are a few ideas.

Headwear – on ladies day you will see many women wearing hats or headpieces of all different varieties. These often become talking points amongst the spectators. For men the irish flat cap is often chosen as the hat of choice and you can find some wonderful examples at places like https://www.shamrockgift.com/mens-clothing/irish-flat-caps.

Shoes – you are going to be on your feet for a long time at the races, unless you pay for seating in a box area. So you need to think carefully about your footwear. On ladies day you will see the customary high heel, but on other days you will most often find both men and women in boots of one description or another, especially at the races in the latter part of the season when the weather turns a little chilly.

Coat – you will often see a lot of tweed at the races and this forms a part of the wider racing sylings.
