Thinking of my 21st birthday

Sitting at the kitchen table the morning after my 21st birthday party I thought back to the incredible party that my parents had thrown me. Not only had they managed to keep the whole thing a secret but they had invited all of my friends, new and old and all of my family members. It was the best surprise ever. My parents had hired out a beautiful hall and had organised a DJ, catering for food and had also contacted a company to hire out a Rodeo Bull. It was impressive, all I can day is the Rodeo Bull Manufacturer really knew what they were doing. I wonder if it was from http://www.gsrodeobulls.com/ ? Anyway back to the party. The food was great. They had organised for all of my favourites to be served. There were mini Lasagne’s, pizza, tiny little cones of fish goujons and chips, some wonderful pasta salads and tiny little hotdogs. I was so surprised when I walked into the hall to see it all decorated with massive ‘Happy 21st Birthday’ signs on the wall.

The whole thing got me thinking about surprise parties and how my parents had really catered everything specific for me. So, whilst I sipped my coffee the morning after I decided to do a little bit of internet research and stumbled upon some other ideas for a 21st birthday bash.

Theme parties – these sorts of theme parties seem to be all the rage at the moment with people having ‘Game of Thrones’ parties and ‘Great Gatsby’ inspired parties. You can get all kinds of decorations for whatever theme you choose and perhaps even ask your guests to come in fancy dress!

Think about the drinks – cocktail parties are also another lovely way to spend your 21st birthday. You could arrange for the birthday girl or boy to attend a cocktail masterclass with some of their closest friends or perhaps hire a mobile bar to come along to their party complete with a signature cocktail in their name.

Adventure – if you have an adrenalin seeking 21-year-old year you could look into an action-packed party, perhaps take them away again with a select few to a skydiving centre or even a wing walking experience.

Entertainment – as I said my parents mixed up the entertainment a little with a DJ providing music for the party and a dance floor ready for me and my friends to show off our best moves, and they also arranged for a mobile rodeo bull to give everyone a little bit of a giggle.

Why Deep Carpet Cleaning Is Important For Your Health

A dirty carpet in your home can have numerous negative health impacts on you and your family. That’s because carpets can absorb all kinds of dirt, grime, bacteria, germs, and many other contaminants all of which can affect your well-being in different ways.

But when you have Rainier Chem-Dry carpet cleaning give those carpets a professional grade deep cleaning at least once a year you can reduce the effects of the type of potential hazards that can build up, cause any number of ailments, and exacerbate allergic reactions.

To help you better understand what’s at stake by letting your floor coverings gather all of this harmful toxicity, let’s examine the various reasons why deep carpet cleaning is so important for your health. When you read further and discover that what is hiding in your beautiful carpet is rather ugly, you may think twice about neglecting your duties of proper maintenance.

Dust Mites

You may not be able to see them, but a dirty carpet can house hundreds of thousands of these microscopic pests. Besides the fact that your carpet is teeming with tiny organisms (which isn’t something you want in the first place), these miniscule critters leave behind feces and body parts.

When you walk across a carpet filled with these things each step kicks it all up into the air and you can breathe it all in, resulting in allergic reactions. You may think you’ve eliminated all of these dust mites and their detritus with your vacuum but you would be incorrect.

Only a deep cleaning will fully wipe out those dust mites and their feces and body parts so you don’t have to inhale these contaminants into your sinuses and lungs on a daily basis.

Air Quality in Your Home

Those dust mites aren’t the only health hazard that a dirty carpet can release into the air. Your carpet’s fibers are excellent at gathering and collecting all kinds of things that can reduce your home’s air quality and force you to breathe in less than healthy air.

But a clean carpet doesn’t have these contaminants and deep cleaning can be 99% effective at eradicating the hazardous material that can get stuck in the fibers and ground deep down from weeks or months of heavy, consistent foot traffic through your home.

The more contaminated your carpet becomes, the worse it can be on the quality of air in your home. When germs and bacteria get caught up in your carpet, they don’t remain there. They can lift up and get airborne and that can harm your family’s health by causing major respiratory problems.

Lower Immunity

Our immune systems are designed to stave off any illnesses or infections that might do us harm but when you’re living with a a constant source of toxicity it can cause your system to work harder and longer than necessary which can actually make you sick over time.

Your body’s immune system is designed to fight back against harmful contaminants that can cause sickness and disease. But when your carpet is constantly bombarding you system with such toxins, your body’s immune system can work overtime and that can make your more likely to get sick.

Itchy and Irritated Skin

All of the bacteria and allergens that are caught up in the fibers of your carpet can do more harm than just trigger allergies and impact respiratory conditions. Your skin can also get irritated when an open wound comes into contact with a dirty carpet that has toxic irritants residing within the fibers of the material.

If you allow germs and bacteria such as dust mite parts and feces to enter the bloodstream through a fresh cut or scrape in your foot or another body part that touches your soiled fibers, it can cause a serious rash that can become itchy and red.

Sometimes the only cure for this problem is a steady regimen of antibiotics that can fight off any infections that might arise as a result of your dirty carpet touching an open wound.

Bad Smells

Perhaps one of the worst things that can happen when you don’t routinely maintain your carpet is that it can begin to emanate a strong, foul aroma. These smells can linger long after you’ve entered and exited the room in which the offending carpet has been installed.

Ever stop and think about what it is making that carpet smell so bad? You can probably imagine it’s not something you want to be inhaling into your lungs much less make your sense of smell suffer needlessly from one day to the next.

Survive The Summer Heat With These Essential AC Tips

That warm weather is fast approaching and before you know it you’re going to rely a lot more heavily on your air conditioner. When the summer heat hits, you’ll need to be sure everything is running smoothly in order to keep your home nice and cool.

This brings up two concerns – rising energy costs and proper air conditioning maintenance. Each one plays an important role in regulating your home’s interior climate as both could have a serious impact on your wallet and the ability to stay cool and comfortable when the temperatures hit triple digits.

Keeping all of this in mind, here are some essential AC tips to help you save money on air conditioning and reduce your risks of HVAC repair in the time when your system is needed the most.

Setting the Thermostat

Many homeowners now rely on programmable thermostats to regulate their air conditioners so that the systems are running as efficiently and effectively as possible. When you are constantly adjusting the temperature levels in the home, that can have a burdensome effect on your AC unit causing it to operate longer than and more frequently.

Guess what that does your energy bills? Your electricity use will increase tremendously with this haphazard approach to staying comfortable in the summer and just because the temperatures are going up doesn’t mean your electric bills have to follow suit.

Programmables allow you to set the thermostat to one temperature so that it shuts on and off less frequently and works for shorter periods of time. The key is to program the internal temperature as close to that of the outdoors as possible. So if it’s 80 degrees, set your thermostat to around 75 degrees.

That way you remain cool without relying on your AC to work for extended periods of time to get your home to a chilly temperature.

You may be thinking that’s a tall order on days when it’s hitting high 90’s or worse outside and, of course, you may need to run the system much longer. But you won’t feel so bad knowing you were able to conserve more often on those days when the heat wasn’t as extreme.

Keep the Warm Air Out

Another essential for running your AC this summer is to know how to keep from running it less. Sure, the programmable thermostat helps but it’s also crucial to reduce the amount of heat gain in the home.

When you cut down on allowing warm air to permeate the home you also cut down on the length of time you run your air conditioner. You have a few choices for doing this and it starts with the windows.

Glass is a lousy form of insulation in that it does absolutely nothing as a barrier to heat penetration. So it’s going to be up to your window dressings do the important work. Heavy curtains and shades can be instrumental in blocking the sun’s heat and UV rays from seeping through and heating up your home.

Choose your window coverings carefully, opting for lighter colors which are better at deflecting heat while darker colors are going to absorb the sunlight and contribute to warming up the room. That’s going to make you run your AC much longer than might be necessary otherwise.

But wait, the windows aren’t the only thing in your home that can generate increased heat. You need not look any further than the kitchen to identify other culprits that can raise the temperature while you’re trying to stay cool.

Try to refrain from running your dishwasher at peak hours of the day and the same goes for your oven. Both of these appliances are well known for their use of heat and if you keep them off when the sun is at its highest peak during the day, you won’t be fighting a war for climate controlled comfort on multiple fronts.

That will give your AC a break and keep it running for only as long as necessary to reach your desired indoor temperature.

Change the Filter

Air filters are an essential component of AC units because they allow for airflow to circulate through the system correctly. If the filter is dirty, that can clog up the system, making it harder for air to get in and make your system work harder and longer to reach your desired internal temperature.

HVAC systems that become overtaxed and heavily burdened with lengthy periods of operation can get burned out and that can lead to exorbitant repair and replacement costs. It’s recommended that you switch out your filter every two to three months depending on how often you use your AC unit.

How To Measure The Success Of Your Social Media Marketing

Seems like everyone has turned to social media for marketing their brand or product but too many of them fail to see the big picture when it comes to determining the efficacy of their campaigns. While it’s important to keep up with the latest digital marketing trends, if you can’t accurately measure success then you’re not taking full advantage of the power of social media.

Simply put, you need to do more than just create and post your content. You also need to track your results so you can fine tune your efforts for the best possible outcomes. If you’re not doing this, you’re not really running a smart or competent social media marketing campaign.

Perhaps this is the first you’re hearing about such things or maybe you’re just not sure how to go about measuring your performance because you’re unfamiliar with the proper data or metrics. That’s okay, many small business owners have some degree of difficulty in managing their social media outreach.

But with a little bit of ingenuity and a lot of know-how, you can harness all of the potential that social media has to offer. We’re going to help educate you on the ways in which you can turn an underperforming campaign into a successful one by analyzing all of the pertinent data.

Devising Your Campaign

The first thing you must do before mounting any sort of social media campaign is decide on what you hope to achieve with it. This can be pretty much anything and it must reflect the direction you wish to take the thing you are marketing.

It starts with knowing your brand or product inside and out and deciding on which audience you are looking to reach. It’s not enough to say that you want to reach “everyone” or “as many people as possible” because that’s too unfocused. You need to create a smarter, more effective target in order to reach the audience who will actually engage, interact, and/or complete a purchase.

It’s possible the very first barrier to social media marketing success is that you have not properly determined your social media goals. That begins with knowing your target demographic and creating specific goals that you need to achieve in reaching that group. So what is it you are relying on social media to accomplish for you? Better yet, how do you plan on making those plans a reality?

Think long and hard about all of it, then decide which social media sites and portals are going to best help you succeed to those ends.

So if your campaign isn’t quite getting the job done, you may not have assigned it a job to do just yet. Come up with a list of relevant purposes that will help get your message out to your target audience. The great thing about social media is that you can use it for a wide range of things, whether it’s merely passing along information, answering questions, offering solutions to a widespread problem or simply providing your customers with an outlet through which to speak their own minds.

Measurable Metrics

So now that you’ve established all of the criteria necessary for mounting that wildly successful social media marketing effort, you want to build a a set of standards by which you can monitor your progress and make the proper corrections in fine-tuning your campaign.

This is done through taking those decisions you made about goals for your campaign and working on tracking the specific metrics that will monitor the ways in which you hope to achieve the goals of your campaign.

For example, let’s say the goal of your campaign is to increase engagement with your customer base. You want to know how well you’re doing in that area so you need to create the metric by which you can determine success versus failure.

When it comes to engagement, the metrics to examine are the number of comments, replies, retweets, participation rates, all of the social media factors that demonstrate how much your target audience has engaged with your pages and your content on the social media platforms you have chosen to use.

Maybe the goal of your campaign is to gather more fans or followers. You can then track who is contributing on your pages and the influential impact they have. Are they retweeting your content and do they have hundreds of their own followers or millions? You can ascertain all of these things by establishing which metrics you want to monitor for the best possible data on the efficacy of your campaign.

Going Deeper

Taking the above examples into consideration, your metrics for success don’t just stop at vague numbers and rates. You can dig even deeper to get very specific real time data to tweak any number of factors of your campaign in order to reach the most ideal parameters for maximum success.

You’re eager to increase your engagement with your target customers. But your current metrics show that those numbers aren’t where you want them to be just yet. So you need to get some additional information as to finding the best possible strategy for maximum engagement. There a number of ways by which to do that across all of the various platforms.

One of the best methods to increase your engagement is to find out what time of day or night is the most ideal for getting those numbers up. This is accomplished by figuring out when your target demographic is most likely to engage with your social media campaign. When you have this valuable data you can then adjust the times for when you post new content.

That way you are posting content at the exact time when your audience is online and ready to engage. In addition, you can strategize your content accordingly to make your followers more compelled to engage with you and your richmond seo content.

Moving Forward

These are just a small sample size of the wide-ranging collection of metrics through which you can track the progress of your campaign. You may have different goals with alternative objectives and thus, you’ll need to track a whole new set of metrics that don’t relate to engagement but reach or driving traffic to your website, or any number of other factors.

When you get this information, treasure it and analyze it because this will be invaluable data for customizing and adjusting your campaign for complete and total success.

5 Roofing Facts That Might Surprise You

When it comes to roofing tips, good information is always in high demand because most homeowners simply don’t know which questions to inquire about or whom to ask. Let’s face it, roofing can get pretty expensive (or so it might seem) and therefore it’s best to have all of the facts at your fingertips in order to keep your roofing costs as low as possible.

But wonder no more as we’re going to discuss five roofing facts that might surprise you:

1. Inspections are Critical

The roof on your home is designed to stand up to the worst that Mother Nature has to offer. So that means you can rely on it to keep you and your family safe year round, right? The answer is yes, but only if you take steps to keep your roof in excellent shape and that means having an annual inspection conducted to check for any problems.

These inspections will help locate any loose or missing shingles, cracks and gaps that might lead to leaks, and any pest problems that may be emerging. Locating these problems before they turn into major issues is the best way to ensure that the roof over your head continues to do its job.

2. Inspecting Your Roof

In order to conduct that all important annual inspection you may think you need to hire midlothian roofers to do the job. While that’s probably the best and most logical option that does not mean it’s the only one. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can climb up on your roof and do the inspection all on your own.

You should be able to find visible evidence of most forms of major damage. Things like loose or broken shingles, wet shingles on sunny days, stains, cracks, soft areas, and mold or bacteria accumulations. If you come across any of these, you might want to call a professional to have the problem fully diagnosed.

3. Not all Leaks are Obvious

Sure, some water damage or discoloration in an upstairs room points to an obvious problem but not all leaks are that easy to spot. Check your attic for signs of water absorption and if you find anything out of the ordinary, you may have a problem with your roof.

Leaks need to be addressed as soon as possible or they could get much worse and more expensive to fix.

4. Shingles are Just One Option

The type of roofing materials you choose for your home have become much more varied as of late. You don’t need to go with the traditional shingles, there are also tiles, slate and metal roofing alternatives that are available.

Many of these options also come in a number of different materials from wood to clay to asphalt and more. So if you need to repair or replace the roof entirely, just know you have more choices at your disposal than ever before.

5. Roofing Shouldn’t Be Costly

Despite common perception, roofing does not have to be an expensive endeavor. In fact, many contractors are more than happy to avoid taking money out of your pocket and dealing instead with your insurance provider in the event that your roof repair or replacement is covered under your homeowners policy.

If you’ve chosen roofing materials that are economical then you could save even more in the long run!

Five ways to attract customers to your pub

The face of pub clientele has changed dramatically over the last few decades. It is more than 20 years since all-day drinking was introduced – some of today’s clientele weren’t even born then!

There has also been far more information in the public domain about what constitutes a sensible level of alcohol consumption. According to the NHS, we should not regularly be drinking more than 14 units in any given week.

Drinking habits, particularly among the younger generation, have changed considerably, so how do you continue to attract customers to your pub?

Get down with the kids

Millennials as a group are constantly ‘switched on’, with smartphones and tablets seemingly an extension of the person. Millennials need to be entertained in some way to stop boredom setting in. Pubs need to tap into this by providing some form of entertainment that will keep them coming back.

Create an exceptional customer experience

This goes without saying in any type of business, but particularly in the licensed trade. People come out to enjoy a drink socially and the service and experience they receive can be on social media sites in two seconds flat. Make sure the feedback is positive!

No alcohol shouldn’t mean no fun

The younger generation no longer values quantity over quality. If they are drinking alcohol, it is likely to be of the premium variety but in smaller quantities. Equally, many young adults do not really drink at all, so the range of non-alcoholic beverages needs to be exciting. Consider adding some more exciting soft drinks to the standard cola menu, such as post mix juices in interesting flavours. Post Mix Juices can be bought online at https://empireuk.com/post-mix-products/post-mix-juices/ and from other suppliers.

Change up the menu

Keeping things fresh is key, with changing up parts of the food and drink menu regularly key to keeping your customers coming back. The variety of post mix juices you stock, trying out a few new local microbreweries and adding interesting, locally-sourced food items will all help.

Jump on the food train

Food is big business in this digital era, with Instagram in particular packed full of photos of people’s food. To the older generation, this is a strange concept; however, millennials won’t miss the opportunity to post a picture of their dazzling desert or luscious lunch.

Triple Pane Vs. Double Pane Windows

If you’re ready to buy new windows for your home, you’ve got a lot of things to think about before you head down to Mr. Rogers Windows and Doors to make your final purchase. Windows don’t just come in a few basic varieties anymore. These days, there are tons of different options that can protect homes against specific concerns, boost energy efficiency, and so much more. That’s why it’s important to make the right choice. Your home windows should last you 20 years or more, so knowing all the facts before you buy can mean all the difference between making a sound investment and a shoddy one. Whatever you’re trying to do with your home, whether you want to amplify its style, protect your interiors from sun damage, save on heating and cooling bills, or simply upgrade to a new, draft and leak-free model, you can find a window type that’s going to work to keep your home feeling cozier and safer through the years. One of the primary distinctions between modern windows is the number of panes you’ll need. If you’re wondering about the crucial differences between double and triple-pane windows, here’s what you should know.

Triple-Pane Gives Better Sound Protection

If you’ve had your old, single-pane windows for a long time, there’s no denying that both double and triple pane windows will be a vast improvement over what you’ve got going now. The best way to choose between the two options is to think about your specific concerns. If you’re looking to completely block out sound and outside noise, triple-pane windows might be the better choice, especially if you live in a noisier city environment. Double-pane windows are great for creating a cozier, more temperature-controlled environment, but when it comes to really muffling noise, especially if there’s a lot of it coming from all angles, you’ll want that extra pane of glass to help create a quiet, serene indoor atmosphere. If you live in an apartment building where the constant sound of slamming doors, honking horns, and street noise is an issue, investing in triple-pane windows could be the key to a better night’s sleep.

Both are Great for Insulation

While triple-pane windows do technically have an extra layer of protection against leaks and cold drafts, both window options are going to do a way better job of protecting your home from the elements than your old, single-pane windows. In addition to keeping the cold wind out, your new windows will be better able to keep out any moisture that might be trying to creep into your home through a gap in the window. Since moisture buildup can be more a danger than a meter nuisance, this simply isn’t something you want to mess around with. If your home is located in a cold, wet climate where winters tend to be moist and full of cold rains, you don’t want to risk getting inferior or ill-equipped protection for your windows. However, if your home tends to be drier and you’re not worried about moisture getting in, double-pane windows will probably we just as good an option.

Triple-Pane Windows Give That Extra Layer of Coziness

Even if you don’t live in a wet environment, it’s possible that you’ll want that extra warmth during a bone-dry, freezing cold winter. Even the smallest draft can be enough to cause your home heating to be less effective. No one wants to suffer through the winter dealing with cold drafts in their home, especially when it can be avoided. No matter how state-of-the-art your heating system is, it’s not going to be a match for a draft that finds its way to you. While double-pane windows can be great at blocking wind and rain, if you’re really interested in keeping your home sealed shut during cold weather, springing for a triple-pane window could be a good idea.

Double-Pane are a Great Economy Option

Let’s imagine you want the extra protection of a triple-pane window, but you’re on a budget and have a lot of other home repairs to do. Don’t sweat it: In these cases, getting a double-pane option will fare just as well without costing you a ton of money. If you’re planning on doing a bunch of home repairs to begin with, you’ll probably already be contributing to your home becoming more temperature-controlled and soundproofed in the long run. As long as you buy a sturdy window model from a trusted brand, you should be able to get through the winter just fine with a set of new double-pane windows for your home.

Cabinet Refacing Or Refinishing: Which Should You Choose?

Homeowners with older kitchens may be struggling with the costs of a total renovation and so they continue to live amongst outdated décor and interior design. But they need not remain in these nooks of yesteryear as there are cost-conscious options for reinvigorating these rooms and ushering them into the 21st century.

The key here is to focus on the kitchen cabinets as they are the most visible components of the room because they take up the most square footage. If you step into your kitchen and think you’ve gone back in time, it’s likely the cabinetry is making you feel that way.

So spruce it up! But which method of revitalization is best suited for your kitchen and your budget? Fortunately, you have two choices to consider: cabinet refacing or refinishing. The choice is yours but it’s best to understand how each impacts your kitchen and your wallet before you make your ultimate decision.

Homeowners who choose to refinish kitchen cabinets will often spend less than having the cabinets entirely refaced as the latter can incorporate more time and labor. But let’s examine how each can have a rejuvenating effect on your kitchen as both are far less expensive than purchasing and installing brand new cabinets.

Cabinet Refacing

This is also referred to as resurfacing and it means completely replacing your current cabinet doors and drawer faces with new ones. After the replacement is complete, they are painted, veneered, or stained so that the new components match the rest of your cabinetry.

Cabinet Refinishing

This option means removing your current cabinet door and drawer faces for the purpose of stripping away the existing finish (which may be faded, chipped, or altogether worn out) and adding a new coat of paint or stain.

You’ll notice that each option does not involve the removal of the cabinets but instead they remain intact. The work being performed is merely to freshen up the front-facing elements of the cabinetry so that your kitchen has a livelier and contemporary appearance.

So which one should you choose? That may largely depend on the condition of your current cabinets and any disrepair that might be evident upon close examination of all your major components.

If you are considering San Marcos cabinet refinishing you will need to make sure that all of the essential elements of the cabinetry are intact and in good working condition. For those of you who have some damage or excessive wear and tear on these elements and refinishing is not the best option, then refacing is the way to go since these components are going to be replaced anyway.

But remember, we’re mainly talking about the facades of your cabinetry, the cabinets themselves and the box portions of your drawers will still remain so they must be in good condition.

If you’re unsure whether or not your cabinets should be refinished or replaced, do a complete assessment of your cabinetry along these important factors:

Interior Inspection

Open your cabinets and look closely for any structural damage in the form of fractured or broken side panels, loose joints, water or rot damage. A good way to do this is to use a sharp object to poke and prod at critical stress points. If you find any soft portions or cracked areas, you may need to replace the entire cabinet instead of refinishing or replacing the facades.

Water Damage

This is critically important so be sure all of your cabinets are free of this damage placing a particular focus on the cabinets that are near and underneath the sink. If you detect any signs of sagging or soggy wood, you will need to have them replaced. Make sure the cabinet is entirely straight and all components firm and nothing has been compromised by moisture.

Shelving

Take a good hard look at all of the shelves in your cabinets. If any of them have become dislodged, cracked, loose, or display signs of sagging, then you will need to address these problems immediately. It doesn’t make much sense to beautify the exteriors of your cabinets when their functionality has been damaged so as to make them mostly useless. Dismantled shelving is not effective for storage.

Drawers

You’ve inspected the cabinets now take a look at your drawers. Do they all roll smoothly as you open and close them. Do the drawers open all the way or is there a blockage of some kind preventing them from extending and retracting properly? You must also check the drawers themselves, particularly the boxes. Are they intact or are they coming apart at the corners. Do you notice any cracks or sagging portions along the bottoms?

What Are Temporary Orders In A Divorce Case?

While a divorce is pending, it can be difficult to get things moving along. The time between filing for divorce and getting it finalized can often stretch into months and potentially years should there be a lot of disagreements between you and your spouse. This is where temporary orders come in. While your divorce is pending, a temporary order can help make sure that nothing big is finalized or decided on, such as the sale or division of your property. If you’ve had help finding a lawyer at one of the best family law chesterfield firms, you’ll have someone walk you through all the things you need to do to speed the case along and start moving forward with your life. Before then, it’s important to know how temporary orders work and what they do. If you’re in the midst of a divorce, here are a few things to be aware of regarding temporary orders.

They Can Help Provide a Temporary Solution

Divorce proceedings can last a long time, especially if there’s a lot at stake. Because a ton of time can elapse between filing the paperwork and being granted the divorce, temporary orders exist so that certain essential details can be decided upon for the time being. For instance, if you have children, it’s helpful to get a temporary order for custody or joint custody so that you don’t have to deal with informality and a confusing, constantly-changing schedule. Once someone puts in a temporary order for custody, the judge can decide on it within the week, and you’ll be able to establish a routine for the interim. This doesn’t mean that the custody decision is permanent in any way. All it means is that it’s approved for the duration of the time between filing and finalizing, and it can be disputed and overturned easily.

They Can Be Overturned

The whole point of a temporary order is that it can be overturned and is not set in stone. Since a divorce may take a long time to finalize, it’s simply not helpful to make a decision about the division of property, custody, and other large-scale issues while everything is still being decided on and the ink has not yet dried. Filing a temporary order allows spouses to figure out what works for the moment so that both can continue trying to live a normal life without constantly having to worry about how to settle up the property, money, and deal with custody arrangements. Temporary orders are quick, and they can help create a sense of normalcy for adults and kids during a divorce proceeding.

They Can Help Resolve Larger Disputes

If you’re not sure what’s going to happen with you and your spouse after your divorce, and if you’re not in a bitter dispute that’s going to take years to settle, you’ll probably want to spend a good amount of time talking about what’s going to happen moving forward. What’s going to happen with the kids? What if one spouse wants to move out of state? If there are joint funds, how will they be divided? What about dividing property and changing wills? These talks can be helped along by the existence of temporary orders. For instance, if someone files a temporary order for sole custody, it can act as a kind of trial period to see whether it works logistically and whether or not it’s best for all parties involved. Because of the order’s temporary nature, nothing is set in stone and nothing is quite as high-stakes or scary as it might seem in a final hearing. Think about using the time between filing and finalization as a time in which to gently try and figure out what works and what’s best for everyone involved.

They May Go Into Effect Quickly

The best thing about a temporary order is that it takes very little time to kick into action. This is best for everyone involved: Rather than sit around having lengthy conversations about theoretical situations and possibilities, a temporary order can legally enstate a condition without causing undue confusion or stress for anyone. Since temporary orders can be easily and quickly overturned, it also means that these choices are less likely to cause bitterness and anxiety between exes. Temporary orders are not about final resolution: They’re about creating a means to an end that allows everyone to stay sane, feel normal, and feel like progress is being made no matter how long the proceedings might drag on for.

Whilst it’s polite and sensible to ask close family and friends for their opinion on the suggested date, and to make sure they are available – don’t give too much leeway. As long as you have those closest to you free on that date, those who you would be devastated if they couldn’t come, don’t seek feedback from anyone else. Once the date is set, it’s your decision and that’s that. Too much input from many parties will only muddy the waters. Hardly any couple get 100% attendance so don’t sweat it.

Consider the season

Is the time of year important to you? Perhaps you’ve always wanted a winter wedding or an outdoor summer celebration? Knowing what season you prefer will help you to narrow down dates with your venue. Your choice of season will also affect the price. Winter weddings are generally cheaper than spring ang summer, unless you want Christmas Day of course!

Try to remain flexible and open-minded, after all every season has its disadvantages. Summer can be unbearably hot, winters can cause travel problems, and spring and autumn can be unpredictable.

If you absolutely cannot be flexible on the date for whatever reason, then try to be flexible on almost everything else to make life easier on yourself. For example, if you must have a particular date, you might well have to compromise on your choice of venue and vendors.

Local Events

When you think you have a date in mind, it’s worth double checking that there aren’t any local events on the same day that could cause disruption to your plans. This could be a major sporting event, food festival or summer fayre. Consult an events calendar for your area just for peace of mind. If there is something big on, remember that this could affect vendor availability and transport bookings.
