5 mindfulness exercises for anxiety

There are many mindfulness exercises for anxiety, but in this article, we have selected five of them, which will be very useful for managing anxiety. Put them into practice!

The mindfulness can understand as “mindfulness” or “full consciousness”. We could define it as the ability of the human being to be in the present and to “remind us” of being in the present.

That is, the ability to return to the “here and now” when our mind has traveled to the past or the future. Thanks to the ability to stay in the present moment, we can be really aware of where we want to go, what our goals are.

If something that is happening right now disgusts us, we can decide not to repeat it. The problem is that most of the time we get lost in a flow of thoughts that correspond to a past that no longer exists.

We also terrify ourselves with future thoughts that seek to control what has not yet happened. Therefore, it is even more complicated to make decisions about our goals or vital values.

Mindfulness, therefore, helps us to focus on the only thing that is real: now. It is in this context that we only have room to act. The rest is beyond our control because it is a context that has not yet arrived – the future – or that no longer exists – the past.

Some mindfulness exercises for anxiety

To practice mindfulness, it is necessary to design some concrete exercises that we must carry out daily so that, little by little, we can convert them into a habit. There are many mindfulness exercises, but in this article, we have selected five of them, which will be very useful for managing anxiety.

As we know, anxiety is an emotion that prepares us for a threat. It is a defense mechanism that helps us survive, to make decisions quickly and effectively against possible damages that we may suffer.

Therefore, the first thing is to realize that anxiety is not bad. We do not have to judge it this way, if we do not know its function and try to use it to our benefit.  The five mindfulness exercises proposed to manage this anxiety are:

1. Take a shower

mindfulness exercises for anxiety

A good exercise to start practicing mindfulness could be to take a shower with attention to what you are doing. The thoughts have to go solely focused on the act of showering.

It’s about putting “beginner’s mind” as if you’d never showered, let yourself be seduced by all the elements of a shower, without wanting to run to finish it, without thinking about what you have to do next, just enjoy and taste the shower that You are carrying on. It is one of the best mindfulness exercises for anxiety.

2. Plasticine dolls

This exercise transports us back to childhood. Children are the best teachers of mindfulness. They live continuously in the present, everything surprises them and they seem wonderful.

Try to be a child, take some colorful plasticine and get ready to make attractive dolls or whatever you can think of. Think about what you want to create and do it with care, patience, putting all your effort and attention.

Do not get up and do anything else until you finish. Dedicate yourself to your plasticine doll, letting your thoughts only be about it.

3. Soap bubbles

mindfulness exercises for anxiety

With this exercise, in addition to practicing relaxation based on breathing in an alternative way, we also increase the ability to focus attention on a single activity.

Get a paper and start blowing bubbles. Notice how they are: some smaller, others much more rounded. Feel the light reflect on them and create beautiful colors. It is one of the best mindfulness exercises for anxiety.

Experience how they explode when they reach a certain height and how others, on the other hand, advance very far.

4. Empty the hard drive

When you feel anxious, you can take paper and a pen and “empty your hard drive”. That is, capture all your thoughts on paper. Write to them as if they were telegrams. Do not evaluate them, do not reject them and do not judge them. They are only thoughts.

5. Scrub dishes

mindfulness exercises for anxiety

Scrubbing dishes is a great exercise to practice mindfulness. It is similar to the shower. It is about connecting with all the sensations that the act of scrubbing entails: cold or hot water, soap, and its texture, watching how dirt falls and the dish is getting cleaner and cleaner …

The key is to focus the mind on the activity itself, seeing the rest of thoughts as simple “noise”. It is one of the best mindfulness exercises for anxiety.

Benefits of mindfulness

Many studies support the benefits of practicing simple mindfulness exercises. It is an attitude that helps us to focus on the present and to be more aware of everything that surrounds us here and now.

It gives us the great advantage of distancing ourselves from our ruminations and negative emotions. It helps us not to merge them with our person, in order to continue carrying out those activities that we have marked as valuable goals.

On the other hand, mindfulness moves us away from evaluations and judgments based on our deepest beliefs and gives us great doses of calm and serenity.

Moving away from the trials, we report greater welfare, both with ourselves and with our social environment. Therefore, it not only improves our self-esteem but also our social relationships.

Things to know about Forest Green Rovers

It might not be setting the world on fire – yet – but Forest Green Rovers is certainly a team to watch after being promoted to the Football League courtesy of a 3-1 win against Tranmere in the National League 2016/17 Play-Off Final at Wembley. They currently play in League Two and each year they go from strength to strength.

Whether you are looking for an up-and-coming team to support or simply some answers to pub quiz questions, here are some neat facts about Forest Green Rovers that you may not be aware of.

Taking the ‘green’ name seriously

Beyond the player and fan lifestyles, Forest Green Rovers really is going green. In 2012, it grew its pitch entirely organically using Scottish seaweed; furthermore, Forest Green plans a new £100m pitch billed as an environmentally-friendly eco park.

A big team in a small town

With its home ground in the Gloucestershire town of Nailsworth, Forest Green Rovers comes from the smallest town of any in the league, with a population of 7,637 as of the 2017 census records. Its current ground, The New Lawn, has enough capacity for almost the entire town – 5,140, with 2,000 seated.

Despite the name, the kit is not Forest Green

If you look for Football Kits from a supplier, you will probably not find a snow cone green, jazzercise green or even bright lime kit; however, looking at the colour of both the kit and badge, any of these would be closer to the truth than Forest Green. Football kits from kitking can be found in a variety of different styles meaning you can find something that suits your team.

Football management with an IT twist

Forest Green’s main sponsor, Ecotricity, is not only contributing money but also a data and analytics-focused mindset from its highly technical business. This is helping the team to grow year after year.

Baseball teams have long taken a statistics and analytics-focused approach, often referred to as ‘moneyball’; now, Forest Green is bringing this mindset to football, using high-tech analytics to drive its player acquisitions. The team can therefore ensure that they have all the skills that they need within the team and can plan their player acquisitions accordingly.

Eco-friendly lifestyles – and not just for the players

In addition to the statistics, Forest Green bases its player recruitment on having a ‘green’ lifestyle, including preferring vegan players. They are a team that live by their values.

It does not end there – Forest Green also promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle for its fans; for example, it made the decision not to serve any meat at its ground.

Breaking the glass with a smashing voice

One of my favourite things about being an Opera singer is the look on peoples faces as I hit those high notes. I have to admit that I do also enjoy breaking the odd glass with my voice. There is something satisfying about watching a wine glass crack purely at the power of your voice. Of course, it’s not so great when it is a window in your house that you break.  But for that I am covered as I just give an Emergency Glaziers Leicester company a call and they come and sort it out for me.  One of the options I have found is https://www.nanduglass.co.uk/replacement-glazing/ and the great thing is it’s a 24hr service.

Now back to my singing. From a young age I can remember spending a lot of time singing in my bedroom. Sometimes to the complete dismay of my parents. Not because my singing was bad but because it was constant. I would sing from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. In the shower, at school, walking around the shops. To be far there were times when I was probably a bit of an embarrassment to all of those around me. Particularly stood in the queue at the tills in supermarkets. The most random things would spark my desire to sing. Seeing some fruit in the shop would have me singing about my favourite fruit or how to make a smoothie. Oh yes, I didn’t just sing well known songs but would sing about everything that I was doing.

One particularly memorable moment I was stood in the kitchen watching my mum cooking tea and started singing “I’m having spaghetti Bolognese for my tea” over and over again until my mum began to slowly whimper in the corner of the kitchen. “Why do you have to sing about absolutely everything” she asked. I really didn’t have an answer for that. All I knew was that I needed to sing, and I didn’t care who heard me or what anyone else thought.

Who would have thought that that little girl and her annoying habit of singing everywhere would turn into an opera singer? I now get to live my passion every day. People pay money to come and see me and my fellow artists three nights a week performing at a variety of venues around the UK and next year we will be jetting off to Paris to perform. Oh, how exciting!

So if you have any little ones at home who spend most of their time screeching at the top of their lungs can I suggest you purchase yourself a good set of ear plugs because if my journey is anything to go by it will only get worse!

Some options for funding your new car

Here we cover the four main choices for funding a new car.

Car leasing or personal contract hire (PCH)

After a modest initial fee, you make monthly payments towards the cost of the new vehicle’s depreciation. When the contract ends, you hand the car back.

Brokers get the best deal from among multiple lenders, so you should pay less than alternative finance methods. Monthly payments are the same throughout, and usually road tax is included.

If you exceed the allocated mileage or damage the car, you’ll be charged.

Personal contract purchase (PCP)

As with car leasing, you pay a deposit followed by payments on a monthly basis for the length of the contract. At the end, you have three choices: return the car, buy it through a ‘balloon payment’ or use any surplus amount in the vehicle towards your next car.

Having the option to buy eventually is reflected in your fees each month, and you will pay interest on the whole value of the car, instead of just its depreciation.

PCP is usually offered from one lender, so rates may not be competitive.

You need to maintain the car for example taking it to companies including MOTs Gloucester at sites likes https://www.123carandcommercial.com and also keep within your estimated annual mileage to avoid a fee. Watch out for negative equity – if you want to end your contract early, you may need to shell out more than the vehicle is then worth.

For more information see https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/whats-the-best-way-to-finance-buying-a-car.

Hire purchase (HP)

Consider HP if you want to eventually own your car outright – monthly payments chip away at the total cost of the car. However, interest payments cost more than with car leasing or PCP. Losing money through depreciation is a factor. Also, if you want to finish the contract early, you must pay all the outstanding debt.

Personal loan

With a personal loan, you can buy your new vehicle outright. You can sell it at any point, and can make extra payments to shift the debt sooner.

However, as with HP, your monthly payments will probably be much higher than for PCP or car leasing if you desire a brand new car, since you are paying the total value of the vehicle with added interest.

Is it possible to recycle a car battery?

Seventy thousand tonnes of lead-acid batteries are disposed of each year, and they are 98 percent recyclable. However, they contain hazardous materials such as lead, lead compound and two to three litres of sulphuric acid, which is extremely toxic. MOT Gloucester companies such as swift fit uk stick to strong guidelines when it comes to recycling certain car parts.

Lifespan

The life expectancy of a car battery is five years, but it is sensible to check it out after three years as old car batteries can present a number of safety and reliability issues. When replacing your battery, ask the specialist if he will dispose of the old one. By law, car batteries cannot be disposed of with household waste, but they can be brought to your local recycling centre, garage or scrap metal merchant. If you decide to replace your battery yourself, be very careful as they are extremely heavy. Wear protective clothing because acid can burn. Disconnect the battery, and check around it to make sure there are no dents or leaks, using a torch to check all the sides and keeping the battery upright at all times.

Process

Car batteries can be reconditioned or recycled into new products made of lead. The recycling process requires the battery to be dissected into the various compounds, such as lead, silver, acid, plastic and water, by means of a crusher. The lead and silver are then extracted, the lead is melted, the acid is neutralised and the water is purified. A range of products such as plant pots, laundry detergents and new batteries are made from recycled car batteries.

Battery

Lead-acid batteries are used in all vehicles including mobility vehicles. Therefore, your battery needs to be disposed of in exactly the same way as a car battery. To protect our environment, it is important that car batteries are not sent to a landfill. Harmful substances such as lead and cadmium permeate into the soil, groundwater and surface water. The impure water and plants grown are then consumed by animals and human beings. A number of ill effects, including cancer, can result from exposure to such metals over time.

Recycling saves natural resources, saves energy, reduces pollution, decreases the need for landfills and generates an income. As battery use continues to rise, their disposal is a big issue, and common sense is required if we want a greener and healthier world for ourselves and future generations.

How to Ensure You Get Found on the Web

It’s a rare company today that doesn’t have a website, but just having a site isn’t enough. You need to make sure that you can be located online. That means ensuring that your site can be located by search engines, so it needs to be designed with them in mind.

With websites being so important a Web Design Yorkshire company based at sites like https://www.etempa.co.uk/ can you help you with design and layout and point you in the right direction.

This process is known as search engine optimisation (SEO) and involves making sure your website gets a good position in search engine results. People seldom bother with the second or third pages of search results, so you really need to ensure your company appears on the first.

Choosing Keywords

A vital part of getting your SEO right is is selecting appropriate keywords for your page. These are the words that you want people to associate with your business and which they will search for in order to find you. It’s therefore essential that you select them carefully. You can analyse other businesses in the same sector to see the keywords they’re using, and if you have a website already you can see which words are driving people to your site.

But while keywords are important, they need to be included in a natural way. Search engines look for readable text and will penalise sites that are simply packed with keywords. Your content needs to keep readers engaged so that they stay on the site for as long as possible. Companies offering SEO will be able to advise you on what works best.

Advertising Your Site

Just relying on search engines is only part of the story, however. In order to get more visitors to your site you need to promote it. One of the easiest ways to do this is via Google AdWords. This is a way of advertising your page within search results so that it stands out.
