As waste disposal specialists most people simply hand over their waste and don’t think any more about it, but have you ever wondered what happens to your waste after it has been collected? Here at Waste Disposal Norfolk we can inform you of the process from booking your waste disposal collection to when your waste is being processed.
Booking and Preparing Access
When booking a collection, the amount of waste and type of waste to be collected will need to be confirmed. Access to the waste will also need to be granted. This means that locked gates and blocked drives can cause delays and potentially mean wasted visits from our crew.
Separating Your Waste Beforehand
To ensure the smoothest collection possible, we try to make sure that all the waste is sorted before it is collected. This can be roughly categorised into 3 main types: general waste, recyclable waste and hazardous waste (such as old paint or used batteries. If the waste is left mixed then it can be more expensive to process and on occasion it may be refused by certain waste disposal facilities.
What the Crew Does on Arrival
When our Waste Disposal Norfolk collection crew arrives at your property they will initially assess the waste, check that it matches the quantity booked and safely load it onto the collection vehicle. They will then take the waste to the appropriate local transfer station, or recycling facility for recycling.
Where Your Waste Goes Next
From the collection vehicle the waste is taken to a transfer station where it is further sorted. The recyclable waste is then taken to processing facilities, the residual waste is taken to licensed landfill sites or energy recovery facilities.
Paperwork You Should Receive
The Duty of Care for waste producers requires that a waste transfer note is completed and given to you when the waste is collected. You should keep this note as it will be your evidence that the waste has been disposed of properly.
